PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a data recording method in which a lifetime of an optical disk can be extended by preventing updating frequency of only a specific part from being increased by adding already updated data to an unrecorded area of the optical disk without overwriting the already updated data at a recording position of management information file data to be updated. SOLUTION: In rewriting the file, a sector position already written is not overwritten, but data to be updated is written in a free space in a rear of the medium, and the already recorded sector area is set as a free space. When a free space does not exists in the rear of the medium, rewriting data are recorded successively in a preceding free sector area in the medium. It is prevented that only a specific area is rewritten by averaging rewriting frequency of sectors over the medium, and a lifetime of media is extended. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
