The head support control device has a head support rear part (11), which is supported by the backrest (3). A control device (15) moves a head support front part (12), relative to the rear part between two positions (12A,12B). The front part is in contact with the rear part in one position, where the front part is removed from the rear part in another position. The front part has a head-detecting sensor (16) to deliver a predetermined detection signal, when a head of a passenger is close to the front part or when the head of the passenger is in contact with the front part. An independent claim is also included for a method for controlling a head support control device for a vehicle.
