A method and a device for managing files in an image forming device equipped with a storage device are provided to improve security quality of the image forming device by allowing only the user logged in with a manager mode to manage work data stored as a hidden file. A display part(210) stores the files stored in the storage device(200). A key input part(220) selects the file among the files displayed in the display part and inputs a user command for the selected file. A controller(230) provides a user interface for selecting a general user mode or the manager mode. If the general user mode is selected, the controller enables the display part to display the files excluding the hidden files among the files stored in the storage device. If the general user mode is selected, the controller enables the display part to display the files including the hidden files when the user is authenticated by a manager authentication module(250), and changes an attribute of the hidden files in the manager mode according to the user command.
