A method and a system for modeling collective action of a group consisting of a plurality of members are provided to produce a collective action model by relating attributes of the plurality of members for the group to each other by using a potential function with at least one stable minimum and an overall propagation function for propagating disturbance to the group. Attributes of a plurality of members for a group are related to one another by using a potential function having at least one stable minimum(905). A general propagation function for propagating disturbance to the group is used(915). The general propagation function is a diffusion-advection function. The disturbance is initially applied to at least one of the plurality of members for the group, and propagated according to the diffusion-advection function.
