PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a powder feeding method and a powder feeder capable of reducing troubles caused by forgetting the supply of powder for adjusting the plating amount when manufacturing a plated wire. SOLUTION: The powder feeder 1 feeds powder P to a wire drawing-up part on a molten metal surface F when manufacturing a plated wire by introducing a wire W in a molten metal tank T and immersing it in a molten metal M, and drawing a wire W<SB>P</SB>with a molten metal deposited thereon upwardly from the molten metal surface F. The powder feeder 1 comprises a hopper 10 for storing the powder P, a receiving box 20 for receiving and holding the powder P discharged from the hopper 10, and a vibration applying device 30 for applying the vibration to the powder P held in the box 20. The powder P is discharged into the box 20 by automatically opening a door part 12 for opening/closing an opening part 11 in the hopper 10, and the powder P is automatically moved to the wire drawing-up part by applying the vibration to the powder P.
