A device for transporting a paper sheet (17) through a printing machine comprises two co-operating rotating transmission cylinders (2,3) comprising a gripping system (13-16) and an operating system to deliver the sheet from the gripping system of one cylinder to that of the other. At least one pneumatic unit acts on the sheet and during the delivery the air passage between the cylinders is throttled by at least one separating element (25,26).
