<p>A mounting assembly, comprising: a base (30) , on which the mounting assembly can be supported in use; a support (32) for a load; and an intermediate member (31) ; in which the mounting assembly is arranged to receive at least two load cells: a first load cell (40) that, when inserted, supports the intermediate member relative to the base and a second load cell (50) that, when inserted, supports the support relative to the intermediate member; and in which the mounting assembly has at least two states in use: a measuring state where one of the first (40) and second (50) load cells is inserted but the other is not, and in which the load is supported through the inserted load cell through the support (32), the intermediate member (31) and the base (30); and a calibration state where the first (40) and second (50) load cells are inserted and the load is supported through both load cells. Such a load cell enables the same mounting assembly to be used both in normal use (the measuring state, where the load typically passes through a single load cell) and when it is desired to calibrate the first load cell against a known load cell (the calibration state, where the load passes through both load cells) .</p> |
