<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high-speed motion estimation instrument and a motion estimation method which shorten sharply time duration required for data format conversion. <P>SOLUTION: A format conversion method of frame of digital video data is provided with a step which acquires the digital factor information representing the picture element information on a first frame of first format, and a step which determines the motion vector representing the difference between a first frame of second format which corresponds to the first frame of the first format and a second frame of the second format. A step which determines the motion vector is provided with a step which computes the integrated projection sequence of at least one present block by using the primary former inverse discrete cosine transformation, a step which computes the integrated projection sequence of at least one hypothesis block based on group of first hypothesis block, and a step which computes the difference between present block and the group of first hypothesis block by using the integrated projection sequence of the present block and the integrated projection sequence of the hypothesis block. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
