PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hinge mechanism capable of enhancing the safety by preventing breakage of a fixed portion to a floor in advance even in case of the direct collision with a test block. SOLUTION: The hinge mechanism 4 supports a seatback 2 provided in front of a luggage compartment R of a vehicle in a longitudinally tiltable manner with respect to a floor panel 3, and includes a portion erecting above a floor panel 3a in the luggage compartment R while being fixed onto the floor panel 3. A bracket 8 for supporting the seatback 2 in a longitudinally tiltable manner is provided, and a hole 14 penetrating the erecting portion in the right-to-left direction is formed in the bracket 8.
