PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lens substrate which can display an image excellent in contrast, and is excellent in the availability of light and high in reliability, to provide a method for manufacturing the lens substrate by which the lens substrate is efficiently manufactured, and to provide a transmission type screen and a rear type projector equipped with the lens substrate. SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing the lens substrate includes: a silver photosensitive material imparting stage for forming a film for forming a light shielding film by imparting silver photosensitive material to the surface on the emitting side of a substrate main body; an exposure stage for exposing the part of the film for forming the light shielding film corresponding to the light condensing part of a convex lens by radiating the light from the surface side provided with the convex lens of the substrate main body; and a developing stage for forming an aperture part on the film for forming the light shielding film by performing developing processing to the exposed film for forming the light shielding film. Affinity improving processing for improving affinity with the silver photosensitive material is performed to a surface opposite to the side provided with the convex lens of the substrate main body before the silver photosensitive material imparting stage.
