PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inkjet recording apparatus which can prevent the damage or the like of a recording head at the time of producing exfoliation of a recording medium even when image recording is performed while supporting the recording medium on the periphery of a cylinder-like supporting member. SOLUTION: The inkjet recording apparatus comprises a cylinder-like supporting member 4 which can revolve at a constant circumferential speed while supporting a recording medium 3 on the periphery thereof, a suction device 9 which adsorbs and holds the recording medium 3 on the periphery of the supporting member 4, a recording head 18 which ejects an ink to the recording medium 3 for recording, a detection mechanism 22 which detects the exfoliation from the supporting member 4 of at least part of the recording medium 3 supported on the supporting member 4, and a control section 30 which immediately stops the revolution of the supporting member 4 when the detection mechanism 22 detects the exfoliation of the recording medium 3 and controls the suction device 9 so that it holds the recording medium 3 on the periphery of the supporting member 4.
