To provide a gap winding type motor having such a rotor structure as can increase the volume of and can half the number of permanent magnets and as reduces the cost and shortens the adhering time period, so that it is excellent in workability and reliability. The gap winding type motor comprises a stator including an armature winding having a plurality of air-core shaped coils (3) wound on the inner circumference of a cylindrical stator core (2) for establishing rotating magnetic fields, and a rotor including permanent magnets (4) mounted on a rotor core (9) arranged concentrically through a magnetic gap from the stator, having a plurality of magnetic poles of alternately different polarities and divided into an arcuate shape. Each unit of the permanent magnets (4) divided includes N-pole magnetized portions (5) and S-pole magnetized portions (6) magnetized into two poles of the N-pole and the S-pole, and non-magnetized portions (8) interposed between the N-pole magnetized portions (5) and the S-pole magnetized portions (6) for suppressing the cogging.
