<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a charging device capable of restraining the faulty charging of an electrostatic latent image carrier over a long term all the more by restraining particulates which pass through a cleaning means and are prevented from passing by a sheet member for preventing the infiltration of powder smoke toner of the charging device from being stuck and accumulated on the grid electrode of the charging device, and to provide an image forming apparatus capable of forming an excellent image over a long term by adopting the charging device. <P>SOLUTION: There are provided the charging device 2 which is provided with an air current control plate 23a extended into a holder case 22 at the downstream side edge 231 of the grid electrode 23, and where a distance X between the downstream side edge 231 of the grid electrode and the inner wall of the downstream side part 224 of the holder case, and a distance Y between the free end (e) of the air current control plate 23a in the holder case and the inner wall of the downstream side part 224 of the holder case have relation of X<Y, and the image forming apparatus PR equipped with the charging device. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
