PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control system of an elevator which provides a person in charge of maintenance with information required for selecting the optimum rescue work including possibility impossibility of rescue in the position of a car in failure. SOLUTION: This control system of the elevator makes a car on one side between two adjacent cars perform rescue operation for moving the car on one side up to the same position as that of the car in failure if operation by control of an elevator controller becomes impossible due to failure of the car on the other side. Each elevator controller includes: a storage means for storing rescue scope data indicating a rescue possible region having no obstacle between two cars along the direction of car running in a shaft; rescue possibility or impossibility determining means S001 to S007, S013, S015 for determining possibility impossibility of rescue by rescue operation, based on a stop position of the car obtained from the car causing failure and the rescue scope data; and a displaying/informing means S012 for at least either displaying the results of rescue possibility or impossibility determination by the rescue possibility or impossibility determining means in an external device, or informing the results by sound or voice.
