Cylinder is clothed with bearing metal and is pushed by one of 2 rollers which work against each other and continuously planished in a repeated rhythm until it reaches the desired degree of stretch-forming. The cylinder is pref. made by centrifugal casting. Pref. its sleeve is steel, and the roller working against it has a relatively small diameter with its surface profiled with fine axial, diagonal or crossed grooves.
