Source has a set of diode laser bars (1) contacted by substrate layers (2, 3) that are made from an electrically conductive material. A multilayer carrier (4) has upper and lower metallic layers separated by an electrically isolated layer that is made from a non-metallic layer. The upper and the lower metallic layers are structured in metallic laminate areas (8, 8`, 8``) that are arranged next to each other and with a distance to each other. The substrate layers adjacent to the diode laser bars are applied on the common laminate area of a metallic layer.
