VEHICLE DETECTION SYSTEM

A vehicle detection apparatus is provided to effectively monitor traffic condition by reducing the size of the vehicle detection apparatus, which is buried under a monitoring region. A vehicle detection apparatus includes a vehicle detection sensor(4) and a controller(22). The vehicle detection sensor is buried under a road surface and detects the variation in a magnetic field. The controller receives a detection signal from the vehicle detection sensor and calculates the occupancy, speed, and traffic amount of the road. The controller monitors traffic condition of the road and transmits the monitoring result to a remote server, which uses the received signal for managing traffic flow or controlling traffic signals on the road.
