An LCD television backlight inverter transformer is provided to increase efficiency of a transformer by reducing the amount of radiated heat and suppressing an increase of leakage inductance. An LCD television backlight inverter transformer includes a transformer and an external transformer. The transformer includes a primary coil wound around one side of a core and a second coil wound around the other side of the core. The external transformer is connected to the transformer in order to obtain synthetic leakage inductance. The external transformer is serially connected with the second coil of the transformer.
