An external electrode lamp, a method for manufacturing the same, and an LCD using the same are provided to improve the reliability, by forming a conductive layer or conductive particles on inner surfaces of both end portions of a lamp tube so as to smoothly emit secondary electrons within the lamp tube. A discharge gas is sealed by a lamp tube(41). External electrodes(42) wrap both end portions of the lamp tube. Conductive layers(45) are formed on inner surfaces of both end portions of the lamp tube. A fluorescent layer(43) is formed on an inner surface between both end portions of the lamp tube. The conductive layers are formed on the inner surfaces of the lamp tube in a uniform thickness, or partially formed on the inner surfaces of the lamp tube.
