<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a variable displacement compressor having a simple control system, having a low cost simple control valve capable of stable operation, and provided with an inside control means suitable for a refrigeration cycle operating in a supercritical area by solving problems which a high pressure control means in a former compressor has. <P>SOLUTION: This compressor is provided with a first control means detecting fluid intake pressure or crank chamber pressure and controlling displacement to adjust intake pressure to a target control value, and a second control means detecting high pressure side pressure and controlling displacement to relax the rise of high pressure side pressure at a predetermined threshold or higher.
