<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an authenticating method capable of objectively certifying that there is no leakage or the like of the internal information of a transported article. <P>SOLUTION: A portable telephone 2 transmits to a server computer 1 image data obtained by imaging a sealed state of an untransported article 6 and data about a time stamp generated by a time stamp generating device 3. The server computer 1 uses the transmitted image data and data about the time stamp to authenticate untransported image data and time. When authentication is obtained, the server computer 1 transmits identification information to the portable telephone 2. The portable telephone 2 transmits to the server computer 1 transported image data, the data about the time stamp and the identification information.
