PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress the scoring of a supporting member to which torque is applied. SOLUTION: This paper separating device Rs comprises a paper carrying member Rs1 for carrying paper S on which images are recorded, a paper separating member Rs2 opposed to the paper carrying member Rs1 for separating the overlapped paper S and consisting of a cylindrical separating roll 21 and roll supporting members 31, 41 supporting the separating roll 21 at its end via a torque limiter TL and having a locked portion 44a extending outward from the rotational center of the separating roll 21, and a separating member supporting member 1 supporting the paper separating member Rs2 and having a locking portion 11 for locking the locked portion 44a.
