PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a solid state imaging device in which a sufficient light-blocking effect is attained in a black reference pixel without increasing the number of manufacturing steps, and to provide its manufacturing method. SOLUTION: In the solid state imaging device having a wiring layer 60, the wiring layer 60 and a contact pad 30 are constituted of metal layers of different constitutive materials. Since a light blocking layer 70 formed on a black reference pixel 2SB is constituted of a metal layer formed simultaneously with the metal layer of the contact pad 30, the number of manufacturing steps is not increased and since the light blocking layer is constituted of a metal layer, light can be blocked surely and a black level signal can be obtained correctly.
