<p>PURPOSE: An oil seal of a shock absorber is provided to minimize deformation of the oil seal, and to improve sealing efficiency against over pressure of oil by mounting the auxiliary seal for supporting the main lip in the lower part of the oil seal. CONSTITUTION: An oil seal(150) of a shock absorber(100) is placed in the lower part of a rod guide(140) and contacted to the outer periphery of a piston rod(130) to prevent leak of oil and gas. A rubber disk body(151) is formed in the oil seal, and a hollow central shaft is formed in the rubber body. A metal reinforcing washer(152) is installed in the body to prevent deformation of the oil seal against load in moving the piston rod. A dust lip(153) is formed in the upper part of the body and contacted to the piston rod by a press ring(153a) to prevent inflow of foreign matters. A main lip(154) is formed in the lower part of the body and contacted to the piston rod. An auxiliary polygonal seal(155) is mounted between the lower part of the body and the main lip to support the main lip against over pressure.</p> |
