PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform data communication at all times as a user intends without unconditionally continuing data communication when the base station of a communication destination is switched during the data communication and the communication rate decreases. SOLUTION: When a handoff from the base station of a cdma2000 1x-EVDO system to the base station of a cdma2000 1x system is made during the data communication, the remaining communication time of the data communication is calculated and compared with a threshold and when the remaining communication time is less than the threshold, the data communication with the base station of the cdma2000 1x system is continued. When the remaining communication time is not less than the threshold and an automatic quit mode is previously set, the data communication is quit. When a manual quit mode is set, on the other hand, a message inquiring of the user whether the data communication is carried on is displayed; when the user selects discontinuance, the data communication is discontinued and when the user selects continuance, the data communication with the base station of the cdma2000 1x system is continued.
