<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ignition coil for an internal combustion engine which can prevent an adapter from being damaged due to a handling in the course of being attached to an engine head after assembly, vibrations during transport, and the like. <P>SOLUTION: The ignition coil 11 for an internal combustion engine comprises an ignition coil body 21 for generating a high voltage, an adapter 34 for supplying a high voltage supplied from the ignition coil body 21 to an ignition plug 61, and a rubber 32 for attaching the adapter 34 to the ignition coil body 21 by overlapping the upper end of the adapter 34 with a high voltage tower 22t of the ignition coil body 21 in an axial direction of the adapter 34.
