PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an exhaust gas inspecting device which ensures clear detection of a fluctuation of an engine rotation number or the fluctuations of a load, without giving a large action to the engine to be inspected, and which has an economical constitution, and sure functions using a simple constitution. SOLUTION: In the exhaust gas inspection method on the diesel engine which is to be continued a rapid load fluctuations including decision of turbidity or absorption, the rapid load fluctuation has to be continued. To this end, a planned device includes a turbidity measurement device (2) and an evaluation unit (3). In order to enable clear detection of the fluctuations of the engine rotation number or the fluctuations of the load, without giving large action to the engine to be inspected, with a simple device and having the sure function and the economical constitution, and moreover, to detect the rapid load fluctuation, relative fluctuations of the exhaust gas flow through are monitored.
