The invention comprises compounds of formula wherein R is hydrogen and R<SP>1</SP> is a hydroxy or acyloxy group or R and R<SP>1</SP> in combination form a keto group, and their preparation by treatment of A-nor-androst-3-en-2,17-dione with enzymes derived from (a) Colletotrichum derridis to form the 12#-ol, (b) Colletotrichum linicola to form the 15α-ol, or (c) Streptomyces roseochromogeones to form the 16α-ol, followed, if desired, by acylation or oxidation. The compounds of the invention have anti-androgenic activity.</p> |
