PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an FFS type liquid crystal display device whose viewing angle can vertically and horizontally be adjusted without the need to provide a white pixel.

SOLUTION: The FFS type liquid crystal display device which has a display screen composed of an assembly of pixels is equipped with a display control area 10 in which each of pixels is brought under alignment control so that liquid crystal molecules may tilt and a viewing angle control area 20 which is brought under alignment control so that liquid crystal molecules may tilt vertically or horizontally, and is applied with a display voltage through a viewing angle control line 30 independent of a common line of the display control area 10.
