PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent irregularities in an image on paper, particularly, the irregularities in the image on an OHP sheet caused by uneven melting of toner, and to prevent paper having double structure from being wrinkled. SOLUTION: The fixing device includes: a thermal fixing roller 2; supporting rollers 4 and 6 on an upstream side and a downstream side; and an endless belt 8 trained about between the rollers 4 and 6. The rollers 4 and 6 are pressed by the thermal fixing roller 2 through the belt 8 and driven with the belt 8. The friction coefficient of the outer circumferential surface of the supporting roller 4 on the upstream side is set to be smaller than the friction coefficient of the outer circumferential surface of the supporting roller 6 on the downstream side.
