PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of manufacturing straight asphalt which is excellent in flow resistance and cracking resistance and has a penetration at 25°C of 40-120, without using any special crude oil or any complicated process, and the paving asphalt obtained thereby. SOLUTION: In the method of manufacturing the paving asphalt, two kinds of vacuum distillation residual oils (1) and (2) with specific properties determined by the vacuum distillation cut temperature and a solvent deasphalted residual oil (3) with a specific property are mixed. The vacuum residual oil (1) is a vacuum distillation residual oil A having a penetration at 25°C of≥200, a softening point of 20-50°C and kinematic viscosity at 120°C of 100-400 mm<SP>2</SP>/s. The vacuum distillation residual oil (2) is a vacuum distillation residual oil B having a penetration at 25°C of 10-90, a softening point of 40-65°C and kinematic viscosity at 120°C of 600-4,000 mm<SP>2</SP>/s. The solvent deasphalted residual oil (3) is a solvent deasphalted residual oil C having an asphaltene content of <13 mass%. The paving asphalt is obtained thereby. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
