PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a member with a recess having a recessed part of a desired shape, to provide a manufacturing method of the member with a recess, easily and surely manufacturing the member with a recess part of a desired shape, to provide a lens base plate, manufactured using the member with a recess, and to provide a transmission type screen and a rear type projector. SOLUTION: This manufacturing method of a member with a recess is a method of manufacturing a member with a recess having a number of recessed parts. The method includes: a mask forming process of forming a mask with a number of opening parts on base material; and an etching process for forming a recessed part by etching the base material where the mask is formed using an etching liquid, wherein high-frequency vibration having a vibration frequency of 18 kHz is applied to the base material where an intermediate recessed part formed in the recess part forming process is provided, thereby removing a part existing on the intermediate recessed part and not adhering to the base material in the mask.
