PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a heat fixing device of a surface heat system, capable of ensuring satisfactory fixing by preventing an image from being soiled with offset toner. SOLUTION: The heat fixing device includes: a fixing roller having an elastic layer; a heating member disposed in contact with the external surface of the fixing roller to form a heating nip; and a pressure member disposed in pressure-contact with the fixing roller to form a fixing nip. The heat fixing device fixes an unfixed toner image to a recording material in the fixing nip with heat. In the heat fixing device, the heating member has a releasing layer that slides over the external surface of the fixing roller on the side where the heating member is in contact with the fixing roller. A vertical line extending from the downstream end of the heating nip being the downstream end in the rotating direction of the fixing roller, the position where the unfixed toner image is formed on the recording material, and the path where paper is passed through the fixing nip are disposed so as not cross one another.
