1324021 Crystal conversion PHILIPS ELECTRONIC & ASSOCIATED INDUSTRIES Ltd 18 Sept 1970 [23 Sept 1969] 44585/70 Heading B1S A crystal is converted into another crystal within the same continuous isomorphous series by the complete or partial exchange of one constituent in the crystal for another supplied from a phase contacting the crystal and confined within a space heated to a uniform temperature. The material introduced into this space contains the constituents of the second crystal in the proportions substantially equal to those desired in the second crystal. Examples illustrate the conversion of an SnS crystal into a mixed crystal of SnS and SnSe and of GaAs into a mixed crystal of GaAsP.
