PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable imaging apparatus capable of preventing the interruption of an image recording operation by the constraint of a storage capacity depending on a file system. SOLUTION: In the portable imaging apparatus, a subtraction time management part 100A switches photographing elapsed time display displayed on the display screen of a liquid crystal display part 17 to subtraction time display of subtracting residual time before reaching 4GB from the point of time of reaching a certain fixed residual capacity for the limit value of 4GB per file depending on the file system. Thus, the generation timing of a photographing blank period is visually notified to a photographer and the opportunity of judging whether to continue photographing or to end photographing and start new photographing is given to the photographer in advance.
