PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image recording device which can protect a recording head during the conveyance abnormality of a recording medium. SOLUTION: This image recording device comprises a drum 2 which rotates retaining the recording medium on the circumferential surface, the recording head 7 which discharges ink to the recording medium, a detection mechanism 5 which detects the looseness or peeling of the recording medium, and a protection mechanism 10 which is arranged opposite to the drum 2 with a gap left in between, then rotates finding its way into between the drum 2 and the recording medium and prevents the recording medium from being conveyed into an opposite position to the recording head 7, when the looseness or peeling of the recording medium is detected by the detection mechanism 5.
