<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device which has improved visibility, and whose power consumption is reduced and whose manufacturing cost is reduced, and to provide fabricating and driving methods of the device. <P>SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display device includes: a liquid crystal display panel divided into a display area where pixel cells are arranged in a matrix and a non-display area excluding the display area; and a backlight for supplying light to the liquid crystal display panel. The liquid crystal display panel includes a photo-sensing device formed in the non-display area for sensing external light to control the light quantity from the backlight in accordance with the result of sensing. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
