The invention generally relates to a punched side plate for a stator of a torque converter. Said side plate comprises an annular segment encompassing at least one inner circumferential surface, a top surface, and at least one protrusion which extends inward beyond the inner circumferential surface in a radial direction. The at least one protrusion is provided with a surface which accommodates a bearing race and runs substantially parallel to the top surface. The inner circumferential surface and the surface accommodating the bearing race are disposed so as to center or receive an inner bearing race for the stator. The annular segment also encompasses at least one annular protrusion which extends from the top surface and is fitted with a centering surface that runs essentially perpendicular to the top surface. The centering surface is arranged so as to center a bearing for the stator. The at least one annular protrusion is located near the inner circumferential surface or an outer edge for the annular segment.
