Provided is a non-metal plate cutting method capable of improving cutting properties by causing thermal shock to the non-metal plate prequenched before producing a scribe line. The non-metal plate cutting method in use of laser beam comprises the steps of: carrying out initial cracking at a cutting-start point of a non-metal material; prequenching, in presence of a cooling gas or a cooling fluid, along a line to be cut; scribing for forming a scribe line in use of a laser beam along the prequenched line to be cut; quenching the scribe line with a cooling fluid; braking along the quenched scribe line by using a laser beam for breaking; and quenching the heated area by the laser beam for breaking.
