A terminal position information providing system and a method thereof are provided to supply a position chase service by installing simple software to the existing module without adding a hardware module to the existing mobile communication network and a terminal. A terminal position information providing system is composed of a user terminal(200) for installing a position chase service application to an SIM(Subscriber Identity Module) in receiving the chase service application, and extracting position information from a signal transmitted from a base station and then transmitting the extracted position information, and a position chase service server(300) for transmitting the position chase service application from an applicant to the user terminal according to a position information request of the user terminal and transmitting information about an area corresponding to the position information sent from the user terminal, to the applicant.
