An MTS(Multi-Television System) receiving apparatus having an automatic correction function and a method therefor are provided to reduce a multi-voice mode/mono mode discrimination error by automatically correcting an MTS level by using an SIF(Sound Intermediate Frequency) AGC(Automatic Gain Control) level and setting a suitable MTS level according to the signal environment difference of a field. A tuner(20) receives an RF(Radio Frequency) signal. An MTS decoder unit(25) detects a level of the received RF signal, and discriminates a multi-voice mode according to an MTS reference level. A control unit(28) judges an air wave receiving state of the RF signal received through the tuner(20), and corrects the MTS reference level of the MTS decoder unit(25).
