A screen shaking prevention device of a portable terminal and a method thereof are provided to prevent minute screen shaking occurring from the terminal based on data obtained through a screen shaking detection process, thereby reducing eye strain. A screen shaking detector(102) detects the quantity of screen shaking and a screen shaking direction. A display data processor(104) receives display data displayed on a screen, and calibrates a display position of the display data on the basis of the detected shaking direction and quantity of screen shaking. A display(106) displays the calibrated display data. A controller(108) controls so that the display position of the display data is calibrated as much as the quantity of screen shaking in an opposite direction to the detected shaking direction.
