APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR TRANSPARENT RELAY IN MULTI-HOP RELAY CELLULAR NETWORK

A device for transparent relay in a multi-hop relay type cellular network and a method therefor are provided to transparently relay signals by using plural frequency bands, thus backward compatibility of an MS(Mobile Station) and service area expansion of a BS(Base Station) are available. A BS(300) performs communication with MSs(301,303) belonging to a service area of the BS(300) by using two frequency bands(F1,F2), and performs communication with an RS(Relay Station)(310) by using the frequency band(F1). The RS(310) selects necessary signals only which require relay among signals received through the frequency band(F1) from the BS(300), and relays the selected signals to MSs(311,313) existing out of the service area of the BS(300) by using the frequency band(F2).
