An apparatus for treating wastewater by using high concentrated organic compound-containing wastewater as a carbon source instead of methanol as a nutrition source of denitrifying microorganisms, and returning sludge recovered from a settling tank to an anoxic tank to recover the denitrifying microorganisms, and a method for treating wastewater using the apparatus are provided. In a wastewater treatment apparatus comprising an anoxic tank, an aerobic tank connected to the anoxic tank, and a settling tank connected to the aerobic tank, a wastewater treatment apparatus using high concentrated organic compound-containing wastewater comprises: a first raw water line for supplying first raw water that is wastewater containing nitrate-nitrogen to be removed, and a second raw water line for supplying second raw water that is high concentrated organic compound-containing wastewater, wherein the first and second raw water lines are connected to the anoxic tank; and a return line for returning a portion of sludge discharged from the settling tank to the anoxic tank. |
