<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable storage device with a biometric data protection mechanism and its protection method. <P>SOLUTION: The portable storage device with the biometric data protection mechanism is composed of: an interface connected to a terminal host computer; a controller; a fingerprint sensor; a storage device interface; and a large capacity storage unit. A driving/application program is installed to the terminal host computer by the connection of the controller and the terminal host computer, the fingerprint sensor is controlled by the controller and identifying fingerprint data of a user are read. The application program is utilized by the terminal host computer, and whether or not the identifying fingerprint data and template fingerprint data match is processed. When they match, a specified block hidden by the large capacity storage unit appears on the terminal host computer, and the portable large capacity storage unit is accessed by ciphering/deciphering operations. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT</p> |
