PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an upright vacuum cleaner which can prevent a contained attachment from falling when opening the upper cover of a dust collection part. SOLUTION: In order to take out an attachment 8 which is contained in an attachment storage part 7, a cover 3 can be opened ahead around a fulcrum shaft 9 like an arrow. At this time, before the cover 3 levels, it is received by a handle 3 of a dust collection part 2. The attachment 8 is not fixed on the storage part 7 completely. When the cover 3 is opened, even if the attachment 8 is not fixed firmly and drops, the cover 3 does not open to a horizontal position. The cover 3 can prevent the attachment 8 from falling.
