<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To transmit a low bit rate data on a specified delay condition, and to intend high efficiency of a used transmission band, in regard to a circuit emulation unit and a packet transfer method. <P>SOLUTION: A circuit emulation data is stored in a variable-length short packet, and the above short packet is stored and transmitted in an ATM cell. When a transmission delay time is long or a required delay time is short, as in a section (A), the data length of the short packet is reduced, and promptly stored into the ATM cell and transmitted. Meanwhile, when the transmission delay time is short or the required delay time is long, as in a section (B), the data length of the short packet is elongated, so as to correspondingly increase an effective data stored in the ATM cell and reduce an ineffective data, thereby intending an effective use of the used transmission band. The transmission delay time is measured by measuring the round trip time of a packet looped back at a destined transmission unit, by transmitting a packet with a time stamp to the destined transmission unit, or the like. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT</p> |
