[Also in Division C7] A diallylphthalate polymeric product having a surface gelled with a solvent for the polymeric product selected from chlorinated organic hydrocarbon solvents and alkaline aqueous solutions containing glycol ethers. Preferred chlorinated hydrocarbons are of formula where X 1 , X 2 and X 3 are each chlorine or hydrogen. Preferred glycol ethers are of formula where Z 1 and Z 2 are -(CH 2 ) n - CH 3 , where n is 0 or an integer from 1 to 4 and R 1 , R 2 , R 3 and R 4 are -(CH 2 ) m -H, where m is 0, 1 or 2. In the examples are used methylene chloride and an aqueous solution containing sodium hydroxide and diethylene glycol methyl ether. The products may then have a metal coating adhered to its surface by electroless or electroplating procedures. |
