1,242,992. Pipe couplings. LIONGAS A.G. 19 Jan., 1970 [22 Jan., 1969], No. 2430/70. Heading F2G. A pipe coupling for filling a container 1 with liquid gas comprises a fitting 2 in the container having an inner inlet passage 12, 27, 28 closable by a one-way ball valve 29 and connected to a passage 46, 51, 52 in a detachable fitting 6, and an outer outlet passage 24 connected through a one-way disc valve 15, 17 and passages 20, 25, 21, 44, 42, 53, 54 to a liquidactuated float valve 65, 60 which shuts a connection 61 to a low-pressure source when the float rises. The coupling fittings 6, 2 are connected by a screw-threaded hand wheel 5 journalled on the former and engaging external threads on the latter. When the coupling fittings 6, 2 are separated, the ball valve 29 and the disc valve 15, 17 are both spring- biased to the closed position. On initial coupling of the fittings 6, 2, a pin 48 on the former engages the ball valve 29 to open it, and subsequently the body 11 of the disc valve is slidden downwardly to open the disc valve 15, 17. A coupling seal 35 engaging the disc valve body 11 &c. is carried at the end of a pipe 47 axially slidable in the detachable coupling fitting 6. To fill a container 1, a suction pump (73), Fig. 3 (not shown), energized by the pressure of gas in a main liquid gas container (67), is coupled through a reversing valve (71) and the connection 61 to draw out gas and thus introduce liquid gas through the passages 51 &c. When the container 1 is filled, liquid gas enters the float chamber 55 and closes the valve 65, 60, thus stopping the filling.
|
