PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the following problem: the end parts of optical fibers are held in through-holes formed in the respective ferrules, and the pair of ferrules are inserted into a split sleeve from its both ends to make the tip faces processed in a convex spherical surface abut on each other, while the split sleeve is structured to have a continuous slit from one end to the other, but then, dust or the like enters the tip faces of the convex spherical surface of the above ferrule from the slit of the split sleeve and adheres to the tip faces. SOLUTION: The split sleeve has the slit from one end to the other end of a cylindrical body. In viewing the above cylindrical body cross-sectionally in the direction orthogonal to the axial direction, a pair of extending lines extending a pair of counter faces arranged so as to hold the above slit therebetween in the inward direction of the above cylindrical body is located in the same direction as the center line passing through a center axis of the above cylindrical body parallel to the above extending lines.
